Perth game developers are gearing up to showcase their games to Program Manager from HTC VIVE, Lisa Chu, who is flying in especially from Taiwan to check out WA’s growing VR and games industry at the next Playup Perth on Friday, 24 March 2017.
VIVE is the high-end VR headset, which allows gamers to experience the wide variety of VR applications available on Valve’s Steam store and VivePort.
Playup Perth is the State’s premier monthly playtesting social, where gamers and developers playtest new games or prototypes and give constructive feedback to the designers. It supports an inclusive, accessible and diverse approach to gaming culture and welcomes gamers and developers from all backgrounds, ages, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and ethnicities.
Perth Playup creator Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie is excited about the first ever VR-only Playup Perth. “We have 15 studios already creating VR content here in WA, so this is a great opportunity for us to showcase what we have to offer.”
Games already announced for the showcase are: Burning Candle Software’s Boondoggle, a VR music visualizer to generate unique visual effects to music; Scott Ludlam‘s WA 2.0, an experimental visual showcase of Western Australia’s possible future(s); a yet-to-be-titled multiplayer team death match by Smash It Out; and Stirfire Studio‘s Symphony of the Machine, a VR puzzle game where players use an ancient machine to manipulate the weather.
The event is restricted to 18+ and will be held at The Nostalgia Box from 6PM to 10:30PM on Friday, 24 March 2017. There will be a discounted bar sponsored by FTI WA.
Tickets are $7 for FTI members and $10 for non-members and can be booked online.
Playup Perth is presented by Games We Play and FTI.
