Each playup, we playtest new games and game prototypes and give feedback to the designers so they can make them even better. All welcome: players, game designers, and those curious about becoming game designers! We love physical games, community games, hybrid games, street games, alternate reality games… or something we’ve never thought of yet.
Please note this is currently an event for grownups! We hope to be all ages down the road.
We will be playtesting
1.) COGZ by “Wesley Lamont. In a deviously clever strategy game, all players must plot and play how to gain the most points from the game board. Points are gained through creating segment chains of colours on the board whilst locking completed shapes. Players must gain points in all colours as the final score is based on each players lower colour. Strategising how to gain the ideal points, locking shapes at the right time, limiting opponents potential and planning future moves will challenge even the best players.
2.) Metagame by David Fono. A game of making games (if you came to my workshop you will have played this) which is great for aspiring game designers to help you get your head around game design basics.
3.) Message on a Bottle by yours truly (Kate Raynes-Goldie) which I will leave mysterious for now:)
We are also going to have a bit of time at the end for a brainstorm on game/playful projects, so if you have something you want help with or want feedback on, please bring it along!
